After growing up in south-central Pennsylvania, Andy moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University and has lived and worked here since 1973.

"I guess I first became interested in Photography while watching my father set up a shot for a Christmas Card. He was using a tripod and 'special' indoor film to shoot a time exposure of the front of the house at night,
which of course was all decorated for the Holidays.

I remember him patiently explaining what he was doing in answer to my many questions."

"I bought my first camera (a Kodak Hawkeye - a marvelous piece of plastic) which I got by sending in the label from a Nestles Quick box. Like my father, I wanted to shoot slides so that the family could enjoy them together after setting up the screen and projector. I didn't get my hands on a 35mm SLR until I was in college. Even though I attended Temple University for Radio, TV and Film, most of my Photography knowledge was gained from a couple of Photographer friends who I would often ask to critique my shots."

"Over the past several years, I've often gravitated towards Nature shots - usually close ups. Even without a camera in hand, I like to get 'up close and personal' to the world around me to get a better feel as to why things feel, look, and act the way they do."
